Use these instructions to convert Mp3 files to .wav format using
WinAmp v2.75
Open WinAmp and make sure it's the active window by clicking on it in an
open area.
Hold down the Control Key and press the "P" key (Control-P) to open the
WinAmp Preferences Window. Click on the Plug-ins/Output item in the
left display area.
You will notice that the "Nullsoft waveOUT plug-in v2.3" is highlighted in
the plug-ins box on the right. Remember this plug-in .. you will
have to go back to it when you are finished converting Mp3's to Wav
format.
Find the "Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in v1.0 (x86)" and double-click your
mouse on it. This will open a "Select Directory" box and you should
"browse" your way to the directory/folder where you want the converted .wav
files to go. Once you've chosen the location of the .wav files,
click the "OK" button to close the "Select Directory" box then click the "Close"
button on the "WinAmp Preferences" box.
You are now ready to convert any Mp3 to .wav format by simply playing the
Mp3 file as you normally would to hear it. You will notice that the
slide indicator moves more rapidly across WinAmp and you won't hear a
sound. When the slide indicator returns to it's original position, a
.wav copy of the Mp3 you played will now be located in the directory/folder
that you chose above.
Repeat this as many times as needed to convert your Mp3's to .wav
files. Keep in mind that the resulting .wav file will be very large
(40mb to 50mb) .. make sure you have ample room on your hard drive to store the
.wav files until you can remove them.
Once you have converted all the Mp3's to .wav's .. open the WinAmp
Preferences box again (Control-P) and single click on "Nullsoft waveOUT plug-in
v2.3". That plug-in will be highlighted and then click on "close"
and WinAmp is now ready to play Mp3's again.
Make sure you play an Mp3 file now to assure yourself you haven't left
WinAmp in the Mp3 to Wav conversion mode.
